Шины на Mitsubishi Montero (Митсубисхи)

Mitsubishi Montero has been present in the lineup of models of the Japanese brand since 1981. The car is a copy of the popular all over the world off-road vehicle Pajero, being available under this name in North America, Spain and Latin America due to the original name with a derogatory translation into Spanish.

First Generation

Sales of the debut generation of the car began in 1982. Initially, it was a frame SUV with a 3-door body, with a metal roof or a fabric top. The engine range consisted of two petrol and one diesel engine with a volume of 2 to 2.3 liters. Gradually over several years, it was almost completely changed, mainly due to the replacement with diesel power units with turbocharging. A modification with a petrol V6 engine with a volume of 3 liters appeared in the lineup. In the winter of 1983, versions with an extended wheelbase and a 5-door body became available, both with a standard and increased roof height, along with a 7-seat salon. Such a modification had a folding mechanism for the third row seats, which pressed them against the side walls of the luggage compartment. In this case, not only did its volume increase, but also the possibility of transforming the rear part of the salon into a two-seat bed appeared.

Second Generation

In late 1991, the production of the second-generation SUV began. The completely updated car was available immediately in four trim levels, differing in wheelbase length, roof top and its height. Compared to its predecessor, the SUV significantly increased in size, adding tens of millimeters in all directions. The engine range consisted of a 3-liter V6 with electronic fuel injection and a 2.5-liter turbo diesel with an intercooler. Another important innovation was the Super Select 4WD all-wheel drive system, which became the "calling card" of this model and the entire Japanese brand as a whole. Its advantage was that it combined the capabilities of both single and all-wheel drive, due to the ability of the transmission to operate in modes optimal from the point of view of road surface features. At the same time, the driver had the ability to switch between modes at speeds of up to 80 km/h.

Third Generation

The debut of the next-generation car took place in late 2000. It differed from its predecessor in its layout, where the frame was integrated into the body, which, on the one hand, allowed increasing its rigidity on bending and torsion, and on the other hand, reduced the weight of the SUV, providing a much higher level of passive safety. In addition, a number of solutions were used to increase off-road capability and efficiency on the highway. In particular, the fuel tank was located between the axles, providing a more even weight distribution on them and increasing the ground clearance. In technical terms, the SUV stood out with an upgraded Super Select all-wheel drive system of the 2nd iteration, where planetary gears appeared, allowing varying the ratio of torque transmission to the axles - from 33/67 to 50/50. In addition, it was controlled exclusively by electronics.

Fourth Generation

The fourth-generation SUV was presented in the second half of 2006. Despite a completely revised design, the car technically retained a close connection with its predecessor, using the same platform with a frame integrated into the body, although in a modified form. One of the "chips" of the model was the Super Select 4WD all-wheel drive system, which received an addition in the form of revised settings for the stability control system and brake system. The modified suspension increased the ground clearance to 220 mm, and the optimization of the air intake location allowed the SUV to overcome a ford with a depth of up to 700 mm without special preparation. The engine range, although it did not undergo significant changes, was composed of power units that underwent a large-scale modernization. In particular, the 3.2-liter turbo diesel engine received a Common Rail fuel system, a particulate filter, and the 3.8-liter V6 petrol engine received a MIVEC variable valve timing system, increasing its power to 250 hp. 17-inch wheels and tires were standard for this SUV. They can always be found in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
