Cooper Tire&Rubber Company is a renowned international corporation from the USA, which has been successfully engaged in research, planned development of new models, implementation of corresponding technologies, and production of tires used by owners of various passenger cars and medium-class trucks worldwide. The headquarters of this tire corporation is located in the small town of Findlay, which is the administrative center of Hancock County, Ohio, USA. The promotion and distribution of the company's diverse products are handled by a developed dealership network, covering almost the entire civilized world based on offices in ten countries.
The beginning of the company's history, which later became known as Cooper, dates back to the start of World War I, to 1914. It was in this year that two close relatives, Claude E. Hart and John F. Schaefer, jointly acquired a small enterprise called M&M Company. This company was located in the well-known city of Akron, Ohio, nicknamed the "Rubber Capital of the World," 56 kilometers from Cleveland, the second-largest city in Ohio. As a company located in such a "rubber" hub, it produced rubber raw materials used by other manufacturers for further tire production, as well as repair kits. The business went quite successfully almost immediately, and by 1917, Claude and John had acquired an additional company called Giant Tire&Rubber Company in Findlay, which produced innovative tires for its time. Among the co-owners was a businessman named I.J. Cooper, who sold auto parts in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he founded the Cooper corporation in 1919. Later, in 1930, a merger occurred between these two companies and Falls Rubber, located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. After the merger, all three companies quickly formed a single enterprise called Master Tire&Rubber Company.
While millions of people were dying in the Old World on the fronts of World War II, in the prosperous USA, Master Tire was actively producing, on special order for the US military, floating bridges on pontoons, reliable inflatable rubber rafts, waterproof rubberized military bags, and various rescue devices. The business thrived, and in 1946, Master Tire&Rubber Company changed its name again to Cooper Tire&Rubber Company, under which it remains registered in Ohio to this day. In 1960, the company conducted its first IPO, a public offering of shares, on the NYSE. To date, it has acquired, built, and successfully owns a dozen major productions, both in the USA and in neighboring Mexico, and its dealership network spans almost the entire globe. The company is the eighth-largest tire manufacturer in the world by capitalization. It owns sixty tire plants in thirteen countries, where more than twenty thousand workers are employed. The company owns such formerly independent companies as Avon Tires (UK), Dean Tires (China), Kenda Tires (USA), Mastercraft Tires (USA), Starfire Tires (USA), Oliver Tires (USA), Mickey Thompson (USA), Roadmaster (USA), DickCepek (USA), Dominator (USA), Austone (China), and Chengshan (China).
One of the most significant and attractive characteristics for consumers of the tires produced under the renowned Cooper brand is their not-too-high cost, especially considering the mileage warranty, which ensures a road resource of around one hundred thousand kilometers. Such high-quality tire indicators are achieved by one of the oldest American tire companies due to strict and scientifically grounded quality control of the manufactured products at all numerous and complex stages of their production.
