Mitsubishi Eclipse – a sports car from the Japanese manufacturer that began its existence in 1989. Having gone through four generations and completing its journey in 2011, it left a significant mark in the history of car manufacturing.

In 1989, the first generation was introduced, the basis of which was the rally model Galant VR-4. The exterior was dominated by straight lines and strict forms that reflected the car's sports orientation. Retractable headlights complemented the image. Under the hood, the novelty hid atmospheric and turbocharged engines with a volume of 2 liters, the most powerful of which produced 195 horsepower. In addition, a 1.8-liter engine with 92 horsepower was also installed. The base car had only front-wheel drive, while the turbocharged engine was complemented by four-wheel drive. Despite its sports orientation, the "Eclipse" had a high ground clearance of 160 mm, which, in combination with a stiff suspension, provided excellent driving characteristics.

Starting from 1995, the production of a new generation began, which received a design with smooth lines and shapes. Under the hood, only 2-liter engines were installed: atmospheric and turbocharged. A version with front-wheel and four-wheel drive was assumed.

G3

The year 2000 marked the release of a new generation, which was distinguished by the technological nature of its exterior. It featured side stamped forms, straight lines that made the image more dynamic. As power units, a 2.4-liter engine with 149 horsepower and a 3-liter V6 with 203 horsepower were used. In this generation, four-wheel drive was abolished.

G4

The fourth generation differed radically from all previous ones. It retained a basis of futuristic forms, which were complemented by unfinished lines. Such a design was not to everyone's taste. Along with new classic internal combustion engines with volumes of 2.4 and 3.8 liters (165 and 263 horsepower, respectively), a hybrid version was also presented. Its basis was a 3.8-liter engine, which was complemented by an electric motor with 200 horsepower. The latter was activated during acceleration and transmitted torque to the rear axle. The car existed until 2011, after which it was discontinued due to a significant drop in sales.
