The Opel Meriva is a compact minivan. The model was created based on the Corsa and was produced from May 2003 to June 2017. During this time, two generations of the car were presented, which was sold not only under its own brand but also as Vauxhall and Chevrolet.

First Generation

The first-generation car was created based on the Opel Corsa C. Sales began in the spring of 2003. Like its more spacious counterpart, the Zafira, the model featured a salon with wide transformation capabilities. Despite its compact size, the second row of seats could move forward and backward, fold into a "flat floor," increasing the size of the luggage compartment. The central part could be folded separately, thus forming a 4-seat salon.

At the time of the model's debut, it was offered with a fairly extensive range of engines, consisting of three petrol and one diesel engine. In 2005, the 1.6-liter inline-four petrol engine was replaced by a more powerful 1.4-liter engine. In the base trim, the car was available with a 5-speed manual transmission. For versions with more powerful engines, a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic Easytronic transmission was used.

Second Generation

The second-generation car was presented in the summer of 2010 and was named Meriva B. It was slightly larger than its predecessor, thanks to the use of an updated platform, which allowed for an increased wheelbase, making the salon more spacious. Additionally, the suspension scheme was changed, becoming similar to that of the larger Zafira Tourer minivan. The interior uses elements "borrowed" from the Astra and Insignia, as well as seats with an increased range of adjustments. Horizontally, they move 240 mm, and up/down - 65 mm. The original FlexDoors were preserved, being a unique offering in this class. Furthermore, top-of-the-line versions came standard with a panoramic roof. At the time of the second-generation car's launch, it was offered with five engines - three petrol and two diesel. Depending on the installed engine, the model could be equipped with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. In the fall of 2010, versions with two more diesel engines appeared - a 1.3-liter engine with 95 hp and a 1.7-liter engine with 130 hp. In 2011, the cars began to be equipped with the Start/Stop system, and the power units were also changed to meet new environmental standards. In January 2014, for the restyled version, Opel offered a 1.6-liter diesel engine with various boosting options - from 95 to 136 hp. In 2017, serial production of the car was discontinued.
