The Opel Vectra C is a mid-size car in the D-segment. It was produced from 2002 to 2010.

Initial version

The model's debut in the C-body took place in March 2002. From the start of sales, it was available in several body types - sedan, 5-door hatchback. The Caravan version in the "station wagon" body was added in October 2003. Initially, the model's presentation was planned 6 months earlier, along with the Saab 9-3, which shared the same platform, but delays in development and preparation for serial production forced GM to postpone the event. The design of both available versions at that time was extremely similar, thanks to the fact that the 5-door version was executed in the fastback style. The station wagon had much more differences, with a wheelbase that was larger and reached 2830 mm. This version was later used in the Signum model, a 5-door hatchback.

The engine range compared to the previous generation car was significantly changed. The base engine was a 1.8-liter inline "four" of the Ecotec series with a power of 121 hp. However, the majority of sales fell on the version with a 2.2-liter petrol engine with a chain-driven timing belt and a power of 145 hp. The most dynamic versions were equipped with a 6-cylinder V-shaped engine with a volume of 3.2 liters and a power of 208 hp. In addition to petrol engines, the car was offered with diesel power units with a volume of 1.9 to 2.2 liters. Later, versions with a diesel engine from Isuzu, the DMAX, appeared. The commercial engine had a 6-cylinder V-shaped configuration and developed 177 hp. In the fall of 2004, the 1.9-liter diesel engine was replaced with a similar power unit from Fiat. It weighed much less than its predecessor, which had a positive effect on the car's handling.

Facelift version

The car underwent a facelift in September 2005. At the same time, the engine range, although fully preserved, was partially changed. In particular, the 3-liter diesel became more powerful, developing 184 hp, and the 3.2-liter V6 petrol engine was replaced with an Australian V6 with a volume of 2.8 liters of the High Future series with a turbocharger. The latter was also used in the Saab, and its version with two turbines in the Opel Signum. Later, this engine appeared in the "charged" OPC version, the maximum speed of which was the classic 250 km/h for German cars. Ultimately, all these changes had a positive effect on sales. In 2007, this model firmly entered the top ten best-selling cars in Europe, largely due to the Caravan station wagon. The last copy of the car rolled off the assembly line at the plant in Ireland in February 2010. Despite the large amount of time that has passed since then, they are quite often found on our roads.
