Tires on Opel Astra (Опел)

Opel Astra is a compact passenger car belonging to the C segment. It has been produced since 1991, being the successor to the no less popular Cadett. In the Opel model range, it occupies an intermediate position between the compact Corsa and the mid-size Insignia. Initially, Astra was offered in hatchback, sedan, and wagon bodies, but over time, the lineup has been repeatedly expanded and changed, including such exotic options as a panel van.

Generation F

The debut of the first generation took place in 1991. The car was positioned as the successor to the extremely popular Kadett E and was offered in four versions - 3- and 5-door hatchback, sedan, and wagon, which received its own name Caravan. Compared to its predecessor, the new car was only slightly larger in size, which cannot be said about the interior space. The shift of the windshield forward and the roof backward allowed the salon to be significantly increased. In 1994, the model underwent a facelift, changing the radiator grille, turn signals, and exterior mirrors. Nevertheless, the production of Astra F continued until 2002 at the Opel plant in Poland. The model received the name Classic and was offered in Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey.

Generation G

The launch of the second-generation model took place in 1998. The lineup of body variants was expanded due to two special versions - Coupe and Cabrio, which were developed at the Italian Bertone. In addition to the exterior, they differed in the chassis, which was refined at Lotus. Subsequently, it was used in the 7-seat compact van Zafira. In 2004, the GM-AvtoVAZ joint venture in Russia launched the production of the 4-door Astra G sedan. The car, named Chevrolet Viva, was equipped with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and had a configuration slightly above the average level of models offered on the European market. The too high price led to low sales, due to which the $340 million project was closed in March 2008.

Generation H

The model with the H index was launched into serial production in early 2004. Initially, it was exclusively a 5-door hatchback. The wagon began to be sold at the end of the same year, along with the sports version - the 3-door hatchback GTC. The configuration of this car at that time was unique due to the presence of a panoramic windshield. All models of generation H were developed on the GM T platform. In addition to the design, the cars differed from their predecessors in larger dimensions and increased interior space. However, some components "migrated" from the previous version. First of all, this is a large part of the engines. Their lineup was significantly expanded and included 10 gasoline engines with a volume of 1.4 to 2.4 liters and 3 diesel engines from 1.3 to 1.9 liters. There was much less variety in gearboxes - 5- and 6-speed "mechanics", 4- and 6-speed "automatics", both of their own design Easytronic and from the Japanese Aisin.

Generation J

The model with the J index also used the GM platform, but now it was a more modern modular Delta II. The first cars of the new generation began to be sold at the end of 2009. The design in many details echoed the exterior of the larger Insignia. Another difference from the predecessor was the significant expansion of the number of options in the standard configurations. Technically, there were also a number of changes. The key ones are turbocharged engines with a volume of 1.6 and 2 liters, as well as a rear suspension that has acquired a Panar rod. At the same time, the sports versions of the car received a new front suspension HiPerStrut from Insignia OPC. Along with generation H, G models are the most common in our country. Tires for them are presented in a wide range in the catalog of the online store "Mosavtoshina".
