Tires on Opel Antara (Опел)

The compact crossover Opel Antara, which is a "twin" of the Chevrolet Captiva, was introduced to the public in 2005. And in 2006, its full-scale production and deliveries to many countries of the world began.

Historical background

The car had a connectable all-wheel drive, while the main one was the front one. In case of wheel slip of the front axle, the rear axle was automatically connected, increasing the vehicle's passability.

As for the power units, two petrol engines with a volume of 2.4 and 3.2 liters with a power of 141 and 244 horsepower, respectively, were offered.

As for the salon, it is made in a strict style with good ergonomics. The presence of sports seats, a large interior space, both for the driver and for passengers, made this model popular among lovers of active leisure. It was for them that the manufacturer optionally installed the Flex-Fix system, which allowed a bicycle to be attached to the back.

Restyling

In 2011, an updated version of the model went on sale, which visually differed from the new bumpers, grille, changed rear lights, as well as the presence of "fog lights". The salon also changed, receiving an updated central console with improved infographics. New finishing materials began to be used in it, and the placement of some elements was optimized, increasing ergonomics.

There were also changes among the power units. In particular, the 3.2 was replaced by a 3.0 with direct fuel injection and a power of 264 horsepower. A turbocharged "diesel" with a volume of 2.2 liters with a variable power of 163 and 184 horsepower began to be installed. The rest of the engines also increased their power characteristics. At the same time, all of them meet the Euro-5 standard.

Production

The model was produced in various countries, including Russia. First, it was a plant near St. Petersburg, and then production was moved to Kaliningrad (after 2011). This factor is key to the distribution of the "Antara" in the Russian Federation. In a number of other countries, the car was produced until 2017, after which it was replaced by the "Equinox" and "Grandland" models.
