Tires on Opel Insignia (Опел)

The Opel Insignia is a mid-size sedan. It was produced from 2008 to 2022. It got its name from a concept presented in 2003. In the model lineup of the Opel brand, it occupied the highest position above the Astra and Corsa. The manufacturer positioned it as a successor to the Signum and Vectra, being an attempt to regain the market share that Omega occupied in the 90s.

First Generation

The model debuted in the fall of 2008. The car was offered in a sedan, liftback, and station wagon body, which received the name Sports Tourer. The GM Epsilon II platform was used in its development, which allowed increasing the wheelbase length compared to the Vectra. Another innovation was the appearance of a number of electronic safety systems. First of all, this is adaptive headlights, turning lights with daytime running lights with LEDs, as well as the Opel Eye system with a camera under the windshield - monitoring the space in front of the car to inform the driver about road markings and signs. In 2009, a "charged" version of the OPC with a turbocharged V6 engine with a volume of 2.8 liters and a power of 325 horsepower, all-wheel drive transmission, and adaptive electronically controlled suspension appeared in the lineup.

Second Generation

The car of the second iteration was presented in March 2017. It was based on an updated version of the global Epsilon II platform from GM. One of the changes was the refusal to use 4-door sedan body versions. Similarly, the manufacturer acted with the OPC designation for the "charged" version, returning to the more traditional GSi, which was previously used in the second-generation Vectra. In 2020, the model underwent a restyling, which, in addition to changes in appearance, led to a number of peculiar technical innovations. The new gasoline 3-cylinder engine with a volume of 1.5 liters and the 4-cylinder diesel engine with a volume of 2 liters that appeared on the car of the previous generation were replaced with the existing previously in-line "fours" with a volume of 1.6 and 2 liters. This was due to two factors. First of all, this is the acquisition of Opel by the PSA concern. In addition, during this period, sales of cars in the D-segment were rapidly declining, as they could not withstand the competition with crossovers. In addition, PSA offered the Citroen C5 X and DS 9 in the same niche, which also became one of the reasons for the discontinuation of the Insignia production in 2022. Later, it was announced that this model would return in the form of crossovers/SUVs. Nevertheless, a significant part of them remains on the move and is often found on domestic roads. Tires and wheels for these cars are still in demand in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
