Both Bongo Brawny and this vehicle represented a long, wide van with a virtually identical concept of use. Moreover, due to the semi-bonneted layout, they were even similar in appearance. The van from Mazda differed from the "original" in logos and nameplates on the body, as well as a reduced engine range, limited to one power unit - an inline diesel "four" with turbocharging and a volume of 2 liters.
