The engine range consisted of two gasoline "fours" with a volume of 1.3 and 1.5 liters and a diesel engine with a volume of 1.4 liters. Depending on the modification, the car was equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, a 4-range "automatic", as well as a variator, which was available exclusively for modifications offered on the domestic Japanese market.

Third Generation

In the summer of 2014, the premiere of the compact car of the third generation took place. Preserving the concept of the predecessor, it differed from it with a completely redesigned body, executed in the same stylistics as other novelties of the brand's model line, primarily the CX-5 crossover. The hatchback turned out to be longer than the predecessor, surpassing it in the width of the track of both axles, but offering significantly less space for passengers on the rear sofa and headroom for front-seat occupants. Two years after the release, the car was equipped with the G-Vectoring Control system, which constantly changes the engine torque depending on the accelerations acting on the car, speed, steering wheel angle, and rotation intensity. This significantly facilitated control over the car, due to smoother and more precise responses to the driver's actions.

In 2023, the car underwent another update. Externally, it differed from the predecessor by a solid plastic panel instead of a radiator grille, other bumpers, and the absence of chrome body elements. The list of available ordering combinations of body mirror housings, plugs instead of a radiator grille, wheel caps, as well as the possibility of pasting various elements, along with a roof painted in a contrasting color, was significantly expanded - a total of 198 visual design options for the car. The Sport version was the only exception, retaining the traditional radiator grille, as well as black exterior and red interior decor.
