The Era of Lada 4X4

2001 was a key year for the "Niva". The model became the property of GM-Avtovaz. The new owner immediately began to modernize the car. As a result, the braking system was redesigned, in which a larger brake cylinder and a new amplifier were installed. A new Valeo clutch appeared. More efficient silent blocks were installed, hub bearings were replaced, some levers were changed in the front suspension, and new enlarged shock absorbers were installed. All this significantly affected the level of driving comfort, including in off-road conditions.

In 2002, the power unit was replaced with an injection version with a volume of 1.7 liters. The timing chain was also replaced, which became single-row.

A new stage of development began in 2009, when the model underwent restyling. Externally, it was not particularly noticeable, only the radiator grille, the shape of the mirrors, and others. However, from a technical point of view, there were many improvements: an engine with distributed injection, which initially met the Euro 3 standard, and later the Euro 5 standard, special gaskets were applied to prevent leaks of technological fluids, the clutch was increased, a hydraulic power steering appeared. In some modifications, the ABS system began to be installed.

City "Lada"

In 2014, the manufacturer presented a version of the model for urban use with the addition of "Urban" to the name. The car received a number of visual changes - black plastic trim, alloy wheels, "metallic" body colors, and others. Among the most significant innovations - the body was treated with a special anti-corrosion primer, which increased its resistance to aggressive environments. In addition, the sound insulation was improved, and many other minor changes were made. All this significantly increased the driving comfort.

The next update was made in 2019.
