Шины на Lada Niva (Лада)

Lada Niva is a line of compact off-road vehicles that has been produced since 1977. Initially, the model was oriented towards operation in rural areas, but later it was adapted for use in urban conditions.

History of creation

The development of the car began in 1971 after the XXIV Congress of the CPSU, at which the task was set to create a car suitable for use in rural areas. The model largely repeated the prototype of the IZH-14, into the design of which were integrated components and units of the Fiat 124/125. The exception was the body, the all-wheel drive system, and the front suspension, which were developed independently. The first experimental samples were released in 1971, receiving the nickname "crocodile" due to the characteristic appearance of the front part. Later, doors and a hard top were added, which transformed the car into a classic hatchback. At the same time, a hood that opens forward was used, and the proportions of the body were almost the same as those of the 2-door Fiat 127. In addition to the Italian compact, solutions from the already produced VAZ-2103 were used in the creation of the prototype - a 1.5-liter engine, chrome bumpers, headlights, rear lights, seats, and a steering wheel. The car existed in this form until 1974, when experiments began on installing the UZAM-412 engine from the "Moskvich". However, they turned out to be unsuccessful, which is why it was necessary to return to the previous version with a power unit from the "Zhiguli". In 1976, a pre-series sample of the car appeared, the first copies of which began to be produced in April 1977.

Original version

The car presented in 1977 was a compact 3-door hatchback, which was equipped with a 1.6-liter inline "four" with a power of 76 hp, a 4-speed manual transmission, and all-wheel drive. The transmission used three differentials - central, front, and rear axles. The transfer case allowed changing the range of gear ratios in the transmission, giving the ability to increase traction at low speeds. The suspension on all four wheels was spring-based, with independent suspension at the front. The ground clearance reached 235 mm. The braking system was 2-circuit with a servo drive, and the clutch was hydraulic. Due to the limited space in the cabin and trunk, the spare wheel was located in the engine compartment.

Modified versions

The car was continuously modernized throughout the entire period of serial production. The first changes appeared in the first half of the 80s, when the VAZ-2103 ceased to be produced. At the same time, the off-road vehicle lost most of its chrome-plated elements, as well as reflective lights on the side panels of the body at the rear, which were replaced with emblems with the model name. In the engine compartment, the windshield washer reservoir was moved to the right side. The car existed in this form until 1993, when the manufacturer presented an off-road vehicle with a modernized engine with a Solex carburetor or an electronic fuel injection system from GM. In addition, the car received a 5-speed "mechanics", an updated suspension, an ignition system, and cardan shafts on bearings. Another important innovation was the extended rear door, which reduced the loading height and changed the design of the rear lights, as well as a completely new interior with a steering wheel from the VAZ-2107 and seats from the VAZ-2108. Later changes included an anti-lock braking system, new door panels and central console, interior materials, electric windows, and a fuel injection system from Bosch. In 2006, this model was formally discontinued, changing its name to Lada 4x4. Today, it is one of the most popular off-road vehicles in our country. This is why the online store "Mosavtoshina" has a large number of positions specifically for this model in its catalog.
