The Chevrolet Captiva is a compact crossover developed by General Motors. It was produced from 2006 to 2018, after which it was replaced by the Equinox model. The basis of the engine range was a 2.4-liter inline-four gasoline engine developed by Opel, as well as a 2.0-liter diesel engine from VM Motori, which was later replaced by a 2.2-liter power unit from Opel's Family Z series, producing 165 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The most dynamic versions were equipped with a 3.2-liter V6 gasoline engine. In the "base" modifications, they worked in pair with a 5-speed "mechanics", and in the upper versions, it was replaced by a 5-, and after the 2011 update, a 6-range "automatic" from Aisin.

In 2019, the manufacturer presented a 2nd generation crossover, which, under its old name, is mainly offered in Latin America and the Middle East. The car retained its former concept of a versatile vehicle, effective on most types of road surface. As before, 5- and 7-seat versions are offered. Externally, the car retained most of the stylistic features of its predecessor, as well as the layout, which implies the use of four-wheel drive. A significant difference from the predecessor was the appearance under the hood of an inline "four" with a volume of 1.5 liters with a turbocharger from Honeywell, which in the "base" configuration works in pair with a 5-speed manual gearbox. As an alternative, the same engine is offered, but with automated switching.
