In the more compact engine compartment, there were engines of smaller volume - a 3.8-liter V6 for the base versions and a 5-liter V8 for the top modifications. The "base" included a 3-stage manual transmission, which could be replaced with an "automatic" with the same number of gears for a surcharge. An option for the V8 version was a 4-stage "mechanics" with a floor-mounted gearshift lever, like the 1971 coupe.

Fourth Generation

The car presented in 1981 was almost identical in appearance to the Pontiac Gran Prix coupe, differing from its predecessor in the presence of smooth curves on the body panels. The engine range was almost completely borrowed from the previous generation model. The concept of the car gradually began to return to its original. In particular, modifications with larger engines began to return to the lineup, including those with a small block of 5 and 5.7 liters.

Fifth Generation

The release of the fifth-generation car took place in 1995, 7 years after the previous generation was discontinued. This time, it was a 2-door version of the Chevrolet Lumina, losing a number of distinctive features. The coupe differed from the trivial layout with a transverse engine and front-wheel drive. The engine range consisted exclusively of gasoline V6 with a volume of 3.1 to 3.4 liters, working in a "pair" with 4-stage automatic transmissions. In terms of equipment, the car also repeated the Lumina, although in the top versions.
