The next generation was presented in 2006 and existed on the assembly line until 2012. The car received only front-wheel drive and had several basic configurations: LS, LT, LTZ, and SS. The latter was the most "charged" with a 5.3-liter V8 engine. In addition, the car had a leather interior, aluminum inserts on the dashboard, and an advanced audio system. The equipment became more luxurious, as the manufacturer tried to move the model to a higher price category. Among the engines offered were 2.4, 2.5, and 3.6-liter options, which were combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The models managed to last until 2020, after which they finally left the assembly line. The reasons for this were several. Firstly, the global trend towards the development of electric cars. Secondly, the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the end of the "career", the "Impala" left a huge mark in the history of the automotive industry.
