Chevrolet Avalanche – an original pickup from GM, which was built on a platform from Suburban. The model was distinguished by one feature – the cabin and body were a single whole, not like usual pickups had a separation. This design allowed the manufacturer to place a fifth door, opening access from the cabin to the luggage compartment. Thanks to this, the car was ideal for those who loved travel, as it allowed organizing several full-fledged sleeping places.

Generation 1

The model was first introduced in 2001. Despite its similarity to Suburban, it differed only in one cabin option, which accommodated 5-6 people. Among the equipment, we can highlight electric seat adjustment, glass, keyless access, air conditioning, dual airbags. Optionally, a more advanced audio system, additional airbags (side), heated leather seats, satellite radio, and a DVD player with wireless headphones were added.

Two power units were assumed: 5.3 and 8.1 liters, 295 and 325 horsepower, respectively. The car's clearance varied from 218 to 224 mm depending on the configuration. The drive could be rear or full. But the transmission was assumed to be only one – a four-speed automatic. Depending on the carrying capacity, two versions 1500 and 2500 were distinguished.
Among the features, it is worth highlighting the built-in onboard boxes, which later became a distinctive feature of some RAM models.

Generation 2

Released in 2006, the model "grew" in size. Its clearance was 231 mm. The engines did not shine with their diversity – only two V8 options with 5.3 and 6.0 liters, with a power output of 320 and 367 horsepower, respectively. Notably, the first option had a modification that ran on ethanol and produced up to 325 horsepower. Initially, a four-speed automatic transmission worked in pair with them, but after the 2008 update, it was replaced with a six-speed version. The drive, as usual, was rear-wheel drive in the base, and optionally – four-wheel drive.

The configuration included keyless access, CD changer, remote start, MP3 player, Bluetooth, satellite radio, leather interior, and more. There was also a special package for off-road driving. It included a reinforced suspension, aluminum bottom protection, arch extenders, a rear axle differential with locking, and tires with a special tread.

The signature rear door was preserved, but the 2500 payload modification was removed from the production line. The model itself managed to last until 2013, after which it was replaced by more promising options.

As for the distribution in the Russian sector, pickups are not as popular in our country as in the USA. Therefore, the car, although present, is in limited quantities.
