Tires on Chevrolet Tahoe (Шевроле)

The Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV. It has been produced since 1994, being at that time a copy of the GMC Yukon. The model is named after the lake of the same name in the western United States and was initially one of the trim levels of the Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, on the basis of which this SUV was created.

History of appearance

At the time of its appearance, the car was a copy of the GMC Yukon, presented in 1991, and was called the Blazer, being a 2-door wagon, which is due to the use of a full-size pickup truck as the "base". With the 1995 update, the brand introduced an SUV already under the modern name and in an extended version with 4 doors. The novelty was significantly shorter than the Suburban, despite using the same GMT400 platform. Another feature was a significant difference in the dimensions and weight of the 2- and 4-door versions. The latter was 28 cm longer, and its mass was 400 kg more and reached 2.5 tons. The "base" engine was a 5.7-liter V8 gasoline engine, an alternative to which was a 6.5-liter V8 diesel engine.

Second generation

In 2000, the brand introduced an SUV of the second generation. It used a new GMT800 platform. The engine range was completely changed, losing both engines from the predecessor, which consumed too much fuel. The alternative was V8 engines, but of a smaller volume - 4.8 and 5.3 liters, which developed the same power, but less torque.

Third generation

The SUV, presented in 2007, was significantly modernized using the GMT900 platform. The car did not change much externally, most of the innovations fell on the technique, equipment, and interior. The range of engines has been significantly expanded. It included the previously offered 4.8 and 5.2-liter V8 engines, but also a 6.2-liter engine from the GMC Yukon with a capacity of 395 horsepower with a cylinder deactivation function when driving with a low load and at a steady speed. It was offered in the most equipped LTZ trim levels. In addition, in 2008, the brand introduced a "hybrid" in which the 6-liter Vortec 6000 engine worked in conjunction with two 80-horsepower electric motors. In addition, these versions had modified body panels, which allowed reducing the drag coefficient to 0.34-0.36.

Fourth generation

Serial production of the car of the fourth generation began in 2014. This SUV became the fastest in the history of the model. This was achieved due to certain changes in the design of the front part, which improved aerodynamics, as well as the use of aluminum in the manufacture of the hood and rear door, which allowed reducing the weight of the car. In addition, the SUV was equipped with new EcoTec3 engines with a volume of 5.3 and 6.2 liters, 6- or 8-speed "automatic", which not only improved dynamics but also provided a very large car with more than acceptable fuel consumption.

Fifth generation

The release of the SUV of the fifth iteration took place in 2020. It still uses the platform from the Silverado 1500 pickup truck, but differs from it in the chassis, in which there are no bridges and springs. Instead, an independent suspension is used, and in the back, it has become multi-link, which made it possible to significantly lower the floor of the car, increasing the space in the salon and trunk. In addition, the SUV has become significantly longer, stretching to 5.4 meters. The engine range has been supplemented with a Duramax diesel engine - this is an inline "six" with a volume of 3 liters and a power of 277 horsepower. Considering the design features of this car, it's no surprise that the specimens of the model of the first generations
