Fiat Tipo – a compact car of the Golf class, which was presented by the Italian manufacturer in 1987. At the initial stage, it was presented only in the hatchback body, later modifications of the wagon and sedan appeared.

The beginning of history

The basis of the first generation was a modular platform, also used for such models as Alfa Romeo 155, Fiat Tempra. The car had a fairly spacious salon with excellent ergonomics. In 1993, a restyling was carried out, which affected the power units, bringing them to the environmental safety standards of that time. Changes also affected the front of the car – a new bumper, narrower headlights. Optionally, a 4-stage automatic transmission could be installed. In the Italian market, the model lasted until 1995, after which it was withdrawn from production and forgotten for many years.

Revival

In 2015, the "Fiat Tipo" was revived. Its production started at the Turkish plant of the company. The basis for the novelty was the Small Wide LWB platform. In Turkey, the model is sold as Fiat Egea. Initially, it was presented in the sedan body, and then the wagon and hatchback appeared. The car is positioned as a family transport, which is distinguished by its affordability and good technical equipment.
