The compact hatchback Fiat Punto from the Italian company became one of the best-selling cars of the manufacturer. Moreover, it was supplemented with full galvanizing, which increased corrosion resistance. In addition to the driver's and passenger's airbags, side airbags also appeared. The ABS was revised, and a traction control system emerged. All this allowed the compact car to receive 4 stars in safety tests. The range of engines increased due to the turbo diesel and 16-valve gasoline units. They worked in combination with mechanics and a variator (which had the ability to manually switch gears).

In 2003, the car underwent restyling, which changed the front of the car, and corrections were made to the ergonomics of the salon. The latter appeared with trim made of new materials. Among the power units, a turbo diesel of the "Multijet" series appeared, which was distinguished by its "pulling power" and low emissions due to precise fuel dosing in each cycle.

Grande Punto

This is exactly what the third generation was called, which was presented as a completely new car developed jointly with General Motors. The car had impressive dimensions compared to previous generations, and a wide range of engines was installed on it, supplemented by a "start-stop" system. Even with a short stop, the engine turned off, saving fuel and reducing emissions.

In 2009, the car underwent restyling, which not only made changes to its technical design but also changed its name to "Punto Evo". Three years later, in 2012, the manufacturer again performed restyling and returned the original name "Punto". At the same time, the exterior and interior underwent minimal changes. The car was produced until 2018, receiving many awards during its existence. However, even this factor did not allow it to become popular in Russia.
