The car is built on the K2 platform of its own design, which is used in almost all current models of the Hyundai-Kia concern. The range of engines is entirely borrowed from models of the two previous generations and consists of in-line gasoline "fours". The "base" one is a 1.4-liter Kappa II family with a power of 95 hp. However, the majority of sales fall on the modification with a more modern 1.6-liter Smartstream engine, which produces 121 hp. The most dynamic version is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine of the same line, with a power of 150 hp. Both Smartstream engines are combined with both manual and automatic transmissions. Only the base version with a 1.4-liter engine is offered exclusively with a manual transmission. All gearboxes have 6 speeds.The car's chassis differs slightly from the previous models. In the front, a classic "MacPherson" with triangular transverse levers is used. The rear suspension contains a semi-dependent beam with torsion bars, which favorably distinguishes this car from its predecessors with much better smoothness of ride. Another advantage of this solution was compactness, which had a positive effect on the volume of the luggage compartment - 410 liters for the hatchback and 560 liters for the sedan.
