Kia Magentis is a mid-size passenger car, the serial production of which began in 2000. The sedan became the successor to the Clarus model and became one of the first practical results of the merger of Kia and Hyundai.

First Generation

The car presented in 2000 was a sedan created on the basis of the Hyundai Sonata, differing in minor changes in the exterior and the same mechanical components. The engine range started with an in-line gasoline "four" with a volume of 1.8 liters of the Beta II family. The most dynamic modifications available on such specific markets as Australia were equipped with V-shaped 6-cylinder engines with a volume of 2.5 liters of the Delta family. Depending on the equipment version, all power units worked in pair with a 5-speed manual transmission, or with a 4-range "automatic", or with a variator.

Second Generation

The second-generation car was presented by the South Korean brand in the fall of 2005. This time, the sedan differed from the Hyundai Sonata much more. The sedan was created on the "global" MG platform and did not have the same body parts as this model, which cannot be said about the set of mechanical components. In particular, the car received from the Sonata the most popular engine - an in-line "four" with a volume of 2.4 liters Theta II, together with 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions. As an alternative to it, on the North American market and in Australia, a V-shaped "six" with a volume of 2.7 liters and a power of 193 horsepower was offered, and other countries "were content" with, in addition to the standard 1.8- and 2-liter gasoline engines, a turbocharged diesel engine with a volume of 2 liters. It was the second generation that proved to be the most successful in our country. Despite the absence in serial production, starting from 2009, these sedans occasionally appear on our roads.
