In 2014, the Japanese brand introduced a car of the next generation. This time, the wagon was separated from the Legacy line not only by name but also by a set of technical components that continued its evolution towards crossovers. The changed exterior not only improved the aesthetic properties of the car but also reduced aerodynamic resistance. To do this, rather non-trivial solutions had to be used. In particular, the rearview mirrors were moved from the front posts to the door panel. The engine range did not change so much, retaining the "basic" 2.5-liter gasoline engines from the previous generation. In turn, the "top" 6-cylinder engine was modernized, differing in increased traction in the medium speed range. From the sets of gearboxes, the 5-range "automatic" finally disappeared, and an alternative to it was a chain-variator Lineartronic. It also became an alternative to the 6-speed manual gearbox in 2017, which ceased to be available.

BT Model

In the spring of 2019, the premiere of the car of the next generation took place. It was built on a new modular platform, which is used in all passenger models of the brand, including Legacy. It slightly increased the dimensions of the wagon, especially in the area of the rear door opening and the luggage compartment. Another return to its roots was the appearance in the engine range of a turbocharged engine with a volume of 2.4 liters and a power of 260 horsepower, which replaced the "atmospheric" 6-cylinder power unit, significantly surpassing it in terms of traction, especially in the low and medium speed range. The "basic" engine turned out to be the same as that of the passenger Legacy - an "opposite" four-cylinder engine from previous generations with a volume of 2.5 liters and a power of 182 horsepower. All power units work in pair with an updated version of the continuously variable Lineartronic variator with the function of simulating the operation of an 8-range automatic gearbox.
