Depending on the version, the engine produced from 268 to 305 horsepower and a torque of from 350 to 390 Nm. The power unit was combined with a 6-speed manual transmission, and in versions for the domestic Japanese market - a variator with 6 or 8 virtual "gears" with control through steering wheel paddles.

Second Generation

In 2021, the Japanese brand introduced a car of the second generation. It became the first model in this series, which was not unified with Impreza. The car "moved" to a modular SGP platform, sharing it with the Levorg wagon, along with body elements and technical components. The sedan has significantly increased in size, which has a positive effect on comfort and convenience in everyday use. Another important "plus" of using the new platform was a significant increase in body stiffness, especially in the areas of attachment of suspension elements - 75% higher than that of its predecessor. The weight has decreased significantly due to the use of aluminum. In particular, the front wings are made of this metal, each of which weighs 2.3 kg less than before. The engine was replaced again. The power unit was a 2-liter "opposite" with a turbocharger, taken from American versions of the Legacy and Outback. In this version, its power is 275 horsepower, and the torque is 350 Nm. Moreover, this engine reaches its maximum torque at 2000 rpm. The car is still equipped with a 6-speed "mechanics" in the standard configuration. A chain variator is also offered for a surcharge, but in a significantly modified version, distinguished by a wider range of gear ratios. The "mechanical" version received a full-wheel drive system from the previous model. The car with a variator uses a packet of friction clutches with electronic control instead of a clutch, and the interaxle differential distributes the torque between the axles in a ratio of 45/55.

In terms of interior, the car completely repeats the Levorg wagon, but with an analog instrument panel instead of a display. Already in the basic configuration, a vertically oriented tablet with a diagonal of 11.6 inches is located in the center of the front console, "framed" on the sides by physical handles and buttons. The most significant difference of the top version GT is the front "buckets" Recaro with electric drive, as well as 18-inch wheels, which are installed on this car, along with 17-inch ones.
