In technical terms, the sedan was distinguished by the presence of a large number of power elements of the "cage" of the body made of high-strength steel, which made it possible to increase its strength for bending and torsion, significantly reducing the total weight of the car. The suspension also underwent many changes, all of which were aimed at minimizing vibrations, for which a fairly large-scale modernization had to be carried out. In particular, the rear suspension was equipped with double levers.

Second Generation

The sedan, presented in 2014, was technically unified with the Outback 5th generation wagon, differing, in particular, in the same engine range, consisting of boxer engines. It started with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder power unit that had undergone a modernization cycle, after which it became slightly more powerful - 175 hp. The most dynamic versions were equipped with a 6-cylinder engine with a volume of 3.6 liters, developing 256 hp. Both power units were combined with the "brand" Lineartronic variator with 7 or 8 virtual gears, as well as an all-wheel drive system with a clutch that connects the rear axle. In addition, the suspension was reconfigured to provide a smoother ride, along with less roll in turns. Noise insulation also improved, largely due to the appearance of noise-absorbing mats in the rear wheel arches and an increased thickness of the glass in the front doors.

The equipment underwent more significant changes. The car received a complex of electronic driver assistance systems EyeSight with cameras under the windshield, recognizing pedestrians, vehicles in front and other obstacles, using this information for preventive braking, up to a complete stop. A touch-sensitive display with the Starlink multimedia system with satellite navigation "on board" appeared on the front console for more expensive versions. 17- and 18-inch wheels were standard for this sedan, which are currently widely represented in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
