The Subaru Justy has been present in the production range of the Japanese brand since 1984. The car was initially a subcompact hatchback, and since 2016, it has been a classic "kei car" for the domestic Japanese market.

First Generation

The car, which debuted in 1984, was a modified version of the Rex model, belonging to the "kei cars", differing from it by increased width and length. It was also available in a version with a "high" roof, which later remained the only one. In the first years of sales, a 1-liter gasoline "triple" was located under the hood, which was later replaced by a more powerful 1.2-liter engine of the same design, producing 80 horsepower. Like most models of the brand, a significant part of the produced copies offered a continuously variable transmission and a four-wheel drive system. Undergoing minor modernizations, the car was produced until 1994, after which it was discontinued without a successor with the same name.

Second Generation

The return of the model took place in 2007. The novelty had no technical connection with the predecessor, representing a copy of the Daihatsu Sirion of 2004. Under the hood was located an unconditional "pair" of a 1-liter three-cylinder engine with a capacity of 70 horsepower and a 5-speed manual transmission. And, unlike the original model, as well as the predecessor, in all versions of the car, it offered a drive exclusively to the front axle.

Third Generation

In 2016, the model name was again returned, but this time the car was one of the variants of the Toyota Tank "kei car", produced with it on the same conveyor. Both cars were developed by Daihatsu, whose version was called Thor. In its concept, the model was close to minivans, offering a very impressive interior space with minimal vehicle dimensions. This was largely due to the increase in height to 1735 mm and the maximum vertical seating of passengers. On the second row, there was a mechanical adjustment, allowing it to be moved longitudinally by a distance of up to 240 mm, making it possible to provide space for passengers or increase the volume of the luggage compartment. Another important feature was the mechanism of folding all seats, when folding which formed a flat platform. The practically absent transmission tunnel provided comfort when moving from the first row to the second. For an additional fee, window curtains and folding tables were also offered, along with a multimedia system, climate control, electric rear door drive, and all-around cameras. The engine range consisted of two variants of one engine - a Toyota-developed gasoline "triple", which, depending on the presence of a turbocharger, produced 69 or 98 horsepower. "Atmospheric" versions were the only ones where a four-wheel drive system was available.
