Renault Arkana Overview
The Renault Arkana is a compact crossover, the initial version of which was created on the B0 platform and produced at the Russian factory of the French manufacturer. Another version of this vehicle was produced in South Korea, known as the XM3, but it used a more modern CMF-B platform. This platform appeared on the European market in the fall of 2020. The model's name comes from the Latin "arcanum," which translates to "secret."
Design
Compared to other models built on the B0 platform, the Arkana stands out due to its concept. The developer aimed to create a "coupe-crossover," which was achieved through an effectively designed body with a shortened, sloping roof and an aggressive front end. Most mechanical components were borrowed from the brand's crossovers and passenger cars. First and foremost, this includes the H5H engine – a turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine with 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. For the "Korean" version, a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.6-liter gasoline engine was available. Depending on the trim level, the vehicle was equipped with 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions, a 7-speed "robot," and a continuously variable X-Tronic transmission developed by Jatco.
Interior
Unlike other crossovers developed on the B0 platform, the Arkana received an interior stylistically close to the brand's compact passenger cars, primarily the Zoe and Clio. The design of the central part of the front console with three control knobs for the ventilation and heating system, as well as the digital display on the instrument panel, was borrowed from them. The size of the display depends on the trim level and ranges from 4.2 to 10.2 inches. Despite its striking appearance, this model is a versatile vehicle intended for use mainly on asphalt roads.
