The compact crossover Renault Kadjar debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015. Its appearance was due to the excellent sales of the Nissan Qashqai in European countries, on the basis of which it was created. Its serial production was completed in 2022, a few months after the premiere of the Austral crossover, which became its successor.Main Features
The car uses the same CNF-CD platform as most of the current Renault-Nissan alliance passenger car models at that time. Compared to the Nissan Qashqai, it differed in its more "French" external appearance and a more interesting interior from the Espace minivan. In technical terms, it largely repeated its Japanese "platform partner", technically changing along with it as part of the planned modernization. At the time of its discontinuation, it most often had a 1.3-liter gasoline engine from the Energy family under the hood, which developed 140 or 160 horsepower, depending on the version. The "diesel" part was represented by two power units, the initial one being a modified version of the 1.5-liter inline "four" with 115 horsepower. An alternative to it was the 1.8-liter dCi diesel engine. All power units, depending on power and version, were equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission or a "robot" with a dual clutch. Most versions had front-wheel drive only. The exception was the modification with the most powerful diesel engine, which received a four-wheel drive system with a Nissan-developed rear axle coupling.In terms of equipment, the car was almost indistinguishable from the compact models of the French brand, lacking the "luxury" Initiale Paris trim level found in most of them. Instead, the Black Edition was available, which offered a fairly extensive list of options by the standards of this class. These included alcantara trim on the doors, seats, and ceiling, contrasting color plastic inserts in the bumpers, black rearview mirrors, and extremely striking design wheels with a 19-inch mounting diameter.
