Renault Thalia – a budget class subcompact car, also known as Symbol on some markets. The model went through 2 generations and several facelifts. Its production ended in 2012 due to its renaming to "Renault Logan".

First Generation

The production began in 1999 at the Turkish plant of the company. The main markets were developing countries where users preferred low-cost sedans. The first batches were supplied with two 1.4-liter engines, with 8 and 16 valves. In 2002, a facelift was carried out. The car began to be equipped with new engines: a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 105 horsepower and a 1.5-liter diesel version with 65 horsepower. In addition, the arrangement of the main control buttons in the cabin was slightly changed. The transmission was offered in two options: a 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual.

Second Generation

The conveyor production started in 2008. The car received the same chassis as the first generation, but with some modifications. The body got a new design, which allowed making the cabin more ergonomic. This had a positive effect not only on the comfort of passengers but also on the trunk, which had a useful volume of 506 liters. Under the hood, engines with a volume of 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6 liters running on gasoline, and 1.5 liters on diesel fuel, were installed. For the Brazilian market, a version with a 1.6 engine that could run on ethanol was provided.
