The Renault Grand Scenic is a compact 7-seater minivan created on the platform of the C-segment model Megane. It was produced from 2004 to 2022.

Initial Version

The release of this model took place in April 2004, 10 months after the premiere of the second-generation Scenic minivan. The car was its 7-seater modification with an increased wheelbase and rear overhang, which made it possible to make more space in the cabin and trunk. Like the "original", it was created on the platform of the Megane passenger car, using the same mechanical components and electronic systems, except for the dashboard, which, in addition to the design, was distinguished by a digital luminescent instrument display.

Second Generation

In the spring of 2009, the brand presented the next iteration of the car. It still used the design of the Megane passenger car, the new generation of which was presented shortly before. The engine range has hardly changed compared to its predecessor and consisted of in-line petrol and diesel "fours" with a volume of up to 2 liters. In the cabin, another dashboard appeared, distinguished by the central location of the instruments. The number and volume of containers for small items have increased significantly, with a total volume of 92 liters. Another difference from the standard Scenic was the changed design of the rear lights, as well as the appearance of a modification with a classic saloon layout with 5 seats. At the end of 2011, the car underwent a restyling with significant changes in the design of the front part and minimal changes in the engine range, which included new power units from the Power Energy family. In 2012, another modernization followed, within which the front part of the car was again changed, as well as the design of the instruments on the digital display. In March 2013, the brand again carried out a minor restyling of the exterior and interior of the car, including a number of electronic driver assistance systems in the configuration. Another innovation was the appearance of modifications with a 1.5-liter diesel engine and a robotic gearbox with a dual clutch, Efficient Dual Clutch, which made this model one of the most economical in its class.

Third Generation

In 2016, the premiere of the next-generation car took place. This time, it was created within the R-Space concept, becoming a bit larger than its predecessor and receiving a number of changes in appearance, characteristic of crossovers. The engine range shifted towards diesel engines, which accounted for 6 out of 8 power units available for this model. Modifications with a 6-speed "mechanics" and a diesel engine from the Energy dCi line were optionally equipped with a "hybrid" part, consisting of an electric motor and battery. The car retained the version with a 5-seat salon, becoming the owner of one of the most spacious trunks in the class, with a volume of 765 liters. Another important innovation was the appearance in the standard configuration of active and passive safety systems, including the function of automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, which largely determined the receipt of the maximum five "stars" in the Euro NCAP rating. Nevertheless, this did not save the model from being discontinued in July 2022 due to low sales.
