The company's history began in 1899, when the two brothers organized the production of bicycles, which were popular at the time. For 10 years, they supplied engines for Ford cars, gaining experience in machine building. Two years later, in 1916, Dodge signed a contract with the US Army, supplying it with trucks and vans. At the same time, cars for civilian use were also being produced. This state of affairs brought the company to second place after Ford in terms of the number of cars sold. The situation changed in 1920, when both brothers died. As a result, their relatives, who did not have the necessary skills and knowledge, sold the company to a consortium of American banks. The deal amount was $146 million.

Further Development

Under the management of the banks, the company's affairs began to recover, and the opportunity to enter the European market appeared. The basis for this was the release of newer and more advanced models. However, the crisis that struck in 1928 led to a change of owner - it became the Chrysler company. Thanks to the latter, Dodge was able to rise to second place in the sales rating in just two years, presenting to the public a new model of the Dodge series DL - a stylish convertible with an updated logo.

World War II Period

The beginning of large-scale hostilities forced the manufacturer to reorient its activities. As a result, the assembly of aircraft engines and military trucks began at the plants. Notably, one of the models, Fargo Powerwagons, was produced until the 1970s, being actively supplied to many countries around the world. In the post-war period, the company continued to produce classic cars, including sports cars.

Present Day
