The Dodge Caravan, a family-type minivan produced by the Chrysler concern, is a long-lived model on the automotive market. The model was first introduced in 1984. At that time, it was based on Chrysler's S platform, had front-wheel drive, and a spacious seven-seat salon. Moreover, the seating arrangement was such that it was possible to move from the first row to the second without leaving the car. The vehicle was produced in "short" and "long" versions. Model Development

The second generation rolled off the assembly line in 1991. The model was still based on the AS platform, but with significant changes. The "Caravan" began to be equipped with a driver's airbag, an ABS system, and built-in child seats. In addition, the manufacturer constantly made adjustments to the equipment and decorative design, bringing the car to a modern look. As for the engines, the vehicle was equipped with units ranging from 2.5 to 3.8 liters.

The third generation, which started in 1996, was based on the NS platform. The car became larger and even more comfortable, as it featured a sliding door that opened a large opening into the salon. The engine range was from 2.4 to 3.8 liters, and some of them were still supplied by Mitsubishi.

In 2001, the fourth generation began its history, which was based on the RS platform. The car again increased in size. Among the significant changes was the appearance of a new 3.8-liter engine, which replaced the V6 3.3-liter engine from Mitsubishi (which no longer met environmental requirements). Also, an electric drive for the sliding side door and hatch appeared. In 2005, a facelift was carried out, which slightly changed the exterior and made adjustments to the ergonomics of the salon.

The fifth generation, which continues the history of the model to this day, began its existence in 2008. The car became even more comfortable, ergonomic, and reliable. Its sales in the global market constantly grew, and this was against the backdrop of the 2008 crisis. Note that the manufacturer regularly updated the generation, which was designed to maximize the approximation of the vehicle's equipment to modernity. Therefore, the current exterior of the fifth generation differs significantly from the initial version. Moreover, this applies not only to the exterior but also to its technical equipment.
