The mid-size, and later full-size, SUV Dodge Durango has become one of the American manufacturer's calling cards. In 2003, a new generation of "Durango" appeared, based on the Dodge Ram platform. As before, this was a frame SUV, which now acquired a third row of seats with three seats. As a result, the car turned into an eight-seater. To improve comfort, the rear suspension received springs.

There were several basic trim levels, which were united by a 4.7-liter engine, as well as a 5.7 Hemi V8. The smallest V6 engine, 3.7 liters, was equipped with the very first SXT trim level.

The third generation reached potential buyers only in 2011. The car no longer had a frame structure, and its basis was the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform. In its dimensions, it surpassed the "donor". This made it possible to install three rows of seats while maintaining the functionality of the salon. In addition, the novelty had an identical Cherokee suspension, engines, and a number of other units. A distinctive feature of the model was the abundance of trim levels, which made each model unique.

Under the hood, engines from 3.6 to 6.2 liters could be hidden. Moreover, the latter was complemented by a turbine, allowing the development of 710 hp.

In 2023, the company carried out a complete "restructuring" of the model, highlighting only three trim levels: base, plus, and premium. At the same time, the car received many improvements in the form of active safety systems.
