Dodge Challenger – a classic Muscle Car that was first introduced in 1969. The car won the hearts of many sports car enthusiasts with its dynamics and aggressive-sports exterior, which remains relevant even today.

History

In 1969, the company released a two-door coupe and convertible "Dodge Challenger". It was based on the Chrysler E platform. A 6-cylinder engine with 145 horsepower and an 8-cylinder engine with 390 horsepower were used. The car's unusual exterior became its hallmark. This factor also made it a star of the film industry, which further fueled interest. However, the oil crisis in 1973 made its adjustments, which affected the decline in demand for cars with large engines.

In 1977, a new generation of Challenger started, which became the model from the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Galant Lambda. Its main feature was a small 4-cylinder engine with 77 horsepower. However, the presence of balancing shafts and a number of other technical innovations allowed it to provide the car with enviable speed characteristics. The popularity was also added by the exterior, which very much resembled the first generation, but with more angular shapes. The production of the model ended in 1983, after which there was a lull.

Resurrection

In 2008, against the backdrop of increased interest in Muscle Cars, the third generation of "Challenger" was presented. The car on the LX platform became larger in size, but retained its sports appearance. After the announcement of the model, all its instances that had not yet been put on the conveyor were sold out. At that time, the company presented several modifications, including
- Challenger SE – equipped with a 3.5-liter engine, 250 horsepower;
- Challenger R / T — with a 5.7-liter engine and 370 horsepower;
- Challenger SRT8 — 6.1 liters and 425 horsepower.
All of them could be equipped with a 5-speed "automatic" or 6 manual transmission. One of the features of the new model was the level of safety, which was significantly increased due to the use of systems such as anti-lock, stability control, brake booster, and others. All this allowed to obtain the maximum level when passing the relevant tests.

In 2015, a restyling was carried out, which introduced a lot of new features to the equipment – LED headlights, parking sensors, blind spot sensors, adaptive cruise control, collision warning system, foldable rearview mirrors, and others.

In 2023, a farewell series of the model was presented, which was equipped with a monstrous engine with 1025 horsepower. At the end of the year, the last "Challenger" was released, and the model went into retirement again.
