The Dodge Journey is a mid-size crossover. There are two versions of this model. The original version was in the production range of the North American brand from 2009 to 2020. In the following year, 2021, another car with the same name was introduced, which has no technical connection with its predecessor.

Original Version

The crossover, presented at the end of 2008, was created on the FCA platform, which it shared not only with the mid-size Avenger sedan but also with the Caravan minivan with a standard wheelbase length. This connection was preserved in the interior layout, which, depending on the trim level, could have 5 or 7 seats. Several characteristic solutions for this segment were borrowed from the minivan, including a niche under the front passenger seat and a folding mechanism for the rear sofa, which, when folded, formed a flat platform. It was located 4 cm higher than the front seats, providing passengers in the second row with an excellent view forward. Also, under the second row, there was a lockable compartment for storage. It's worth noting another such solution - rear doors that open at an angle of up to 90 degrees, which was a unique offer for the 2010s.

In technical terms, the car also largely repeated the Caravan minivan. The base versions were equipped with the same 2.4-liter "atmospheric" engine with 173 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque. An alternative to it was the 3.6-liter V6 engine from the Pentastar family. Initially, the power units were combined with a 4-range "automatic", and after the 2011 update - with a more modern 6-speed automatic transmission. As part of that update, the car also received an improved suspension and steering, along with expanded trim options, which included the Uconnect multimedia system with an 8.4-inch touch screen, keyless entry, and a push-button engine start.

South American Version

In the fall of 2021, the brand introduced a second-generation crossover. Technically, it was not related to its predecessor, being a copy of the Chinese GAC GS5 from 2015. Perhaps the only difference was the radiator grille with a design characteristic of Dodge models, along with numerous logos and nameplates. Under the hood, there was an in-line gasoline "four" with a turbocharger and a volume of 1.5 liters, developing up to 169 horsepower. It was combined exclusively with a 6-speed "automatic" from the Japanese Aisin. A much more important feature of the South American "Chinese" was its fairly rich equipment. Even in the base version, a virtual instrument panel with a 12.3-inch screen, a multimedia system with navigation and cameras, and six airbags were offered.
