A significant advantage over competitors, in particular, the Honda Civic, was the exterior design, executed in a non-traditional style for North American cars, along with body colors, where bright shades prevailed.

Second generation

The car of the second generation, presented in 1999, was available only as a 4-door sedan. At the same time, its design was significantly improved, receiving more harmonious proportions. The engine range consisted of only one engine - a row of gasoline "fours" from the previous model with a power of 130 horsepower. But in the list of additional options, there was a Magnum package, which included an adjustable intake manifold and other components that increased the power of the power unit to 150 horsepower. A year later, it became part of the standard equipment of the R/T version, which also included 16-inch wheels, steering with a smaller gear ratio, stiffer springs, and a spoiler on the trunk lid.

Mexican version

In 2016, after a more than 10-year break, the model name was returned to the production range of the North American brand. The new car had no technical connection with its predecessor, being a copy of the Fiat Tipo, 2015 model year. The visual difference was other logos and nameplates, a grille with a "signature" Dodge cross. In turn, it was borrowed from the most conservative versions of the Italian model with a classic 2000s-style front console, into which the display of the multimedia system was integrated. Under the hood was a gasoline "atmospheric" engine with a volume of 1.6 liters and a power of 110 horsepower, which worked in tandem with a 6-speed automatic transmission. In terms of equipment, the car stood out only in the top trim levels, which included climate control, seats with combined leather and fabric trim, and a satellite navigation system.
