And this is not surprising, since the company has been owned by the Japanese brand for many decades.

Rubber compound with increased silica content

As you know, a significant part of the traction properties of any tire is determined by the physical properties of the tread rubber compound. In this case, the composition of the Firestone Winterhawk 2 Evo was created based on the specific operating conditions in winter. The main innovation was a significant increase in the proportion of silicon-containing components, thanks to which the tire demonstrates excellent traction with any winter surface. In addition to these, a number of other substances were included in the composition of the rubber compound, which made it possible to reduce rolling resistance, while increasing resistance to punctures, cuts, and abrasive wear.

Increased stability when cornering

The symmetrical non-directional tread pattern of this model is distinguished by massive shoulder areas, as well as the presence of very long longitudinal edges. This combination provides the tire with increased stability against lateral skidding, allowing for safer passage through turns, especially on slippery winter surfaces.

Low risk of aquaplaning

The open design of the tread pattern, containing a large number of individual blocks, allowed the tire to be equipped with a very developed drainage system. The main components of this system are three very wide and deep longitudinal drainage grooves. Their volume allows cleaning the contact patch not only from water but also from more heavy snow masses, which allows the tire to feel excellent on snowy roads.
