DescriptionDescription Bridgestone Blizzak VRX
Winter non-studded tires Bridgestone Blizzak VRX are one of the novelties of the Japanese tire giant. Due to the widest size range, this model is perfectly suitable for operation on almost any modern passenger car, starting from city compacts and ending with premium-class sedans. Another key feature of this tire is a significantly modified asymmetric tread pattern, as well as a tread made from a new version of the Multi-cell Compound rubber mixture.
Next-generation rubber compound
One of the most significant innovations of this model was the new generation of the proprietary Multi-Cell Compound rubber mixture. Thanks to a number of special components and a changed preparation technology, Japanese tire makers were able to significantly improve handling and braking efficiency on icy surfaces.
As you know, over time, the Bridgestone Blizzak VRX tire, due to tread wear, loses a significant part of its initial grip properties. In addition, the rubber mixture itself becomes more rigid, which significantly reduces braking efficiency. The new generation of Multi-Cell Compound rubber mixture, as it wears out, forms a large number of micropores, which allows the tread elasticity to be maintained at its initial level for 3-4 winter seasons.
In addition, the porous structure of the rubber mixture has a beneficial effect on the grip properties when driving on icy and wet roads. The multitude of micropores, 0.3 mm in size, like a sponge, absorbs the water film from the surface of the road, providing a higher level of safety even in the most unfavorable conditions.
Increased number of gripping edges
If we compare this model with its predecessor, the tread pattern contains a significantly larger number of gripping edges. Due to this, the tire holds much better on snowy surfaces, and the increased size of the drainage grooves allowed for a significant improvement in the self-cleaning properties of the tread.
Main features of the Bridgestone Blizzak VRX tire
- the improved design of the asymmetric directional tread pattern provides maximum grip on any winter surface;
- the increased number of gripping edges allows for confident movement on snowy roads;
- the new generation of the proprietary Multi-Cell Compound rubber mixture, due to its microporous structure, provides excellent elasticity throughout the entire service life, the ability to absorb moisture from the surface of the road;
- the cross-grooves located on the outside of the tread provide more reliable grip on snow, as well as give the tire additional resistance to slushplaning.

I rode on different types of studded and non-studded tires, but always went with branded ones. But my experience with studless tires was limited to the Nokian Hakkapeliitta WS60, which completely changed my opinion on them, and the second time was with the VRX.
Over drifts, VRX behaves like a tank. On the snow, surprisingly, they have good directional stability. They don't feel any curb. Ice on the roads is no problem

Third season on this tire, very satisfied, strong, no fear of potholes, holds the road perfectly! The car is a 300hp rear-wheel drive. The lockup is essential on all hills. Installed the same tire on my wife's IS250, no issues on slippery roads either. I recommend it to those who like studs.

I took it on the recommendation of people who had already driven on it. Never regretted it. Great tire, and on snow and ice! However, it's not a fan of wet ice. Though the studs aren't a fan of it either. You just have to drive more carefully in such weather.
The "For a ruble" tire test results were very entertaining: "a confident mediocrity". They could have just written: Bridgestone didn't bring money to the

Bridgestone tires received a recommended status from the experts as they provide impressive traction on snow and ice. Of course, on dry and wet asphalt, they lagged behind alpine-type tires and have a lower speed index, but this is quite typical for tires of this category. In general, if the roads in your region are often covered with snow or ice in winter, these tires will be the preferred choice.
