Nokian has developed new tires for urban buses
Nokian Tyres has introduced the Nokian Hakka City Bus tyres, designed for use on city buses in all weather conditions and part of the Finnish brand's updated range for freight and passenger transport.
Nokian Hakka City Bus was created with the fact that electric buses are increasingly being used in cities, whose characteristics lead to the fact that tyres need to withstand increased loads during frequent accelerations and stops, and moreover, the requirements for energy efficiency are increasing. The manufacturer also emphasizes that the novelty is distinguished by improved resistance to uneven wear.
According to Teppo Siltanen, Senior Product Manager at Nokian, the tyre received a new tread pattern with longitudinal lamellas in the central zone, which increases stability, while the sidewalls and shoulder areas were strengthened to protect against damage when contacting curbs.

The new tyres are designed primarily for the Central European market and are designed for operation in both warm weather and mild winter conditions, and the reduced rolling resistance improves fuel economy or increases the range of electric buses. In addition to this, according to the manufacturer, the noise level has been reduced to improve passenger comfort.
Hakka City Bus was released in size 275/70 R22.5, and since electric buses require increased tyre load capacity, the load index has been increased, and the novelty can withstand more than 8000 kg on the steering axle. The Noktop Hakka Bus retread is also available for subsequent refurbishment.
The tyres were developed in Finland and tested in both the hot southern climate and at low temperatures, which, according to Nokian, guarantees reliable grip in any conditions, as well as "compliance with the highest quality standards".
