Getting ready for real winter

With each passing day, winter is setting in more and more. In some regions, snow has just fallen, while in others it is already confidently lying. At the same time, the first days of winter are always perceived positively, if, of course, you exclude the queues at tire shops. White snow, special comfort and coziness behind the wheel, when there is an opportunity to make the car's cabin a little warmer. But over time, winter becomes more severe, and road conditions become more complex.

In the middle of winter, you can safely forget about the infatuation with the first snow and forget all the enthusiastic poems about the "Russian winter". Modern winter is fundamentally different from what it used to be. That's why you can't compare the road conditions that were before and now. That's why you can't take as an example the times when you drove on the same type of tires all year round. The situation has changed fundamentally and requires special attention.

It is precisely because of how the environment on the road changes that we can safely say - magazine tests show a comparison of tires in ideal conditions, and they are far from real winter. To understand the real characteristics of tires, you need to pour several hundred liters of "non-freezing" liquid onto the road and several tons of reagents. Then, at the output, we will get a non-freezing slush on which it is also difficult for tires to maintain contact with the road.

Of course, we're not saying that magazines should be excluded altogether. They are useful, and in the current realities of new models and modifications, they are simply necessary. It is important to make adjustments for real conditions and remember that only in our hands is the guarantee of confident traction on the road. It is important to follow a few basic rules:
- Maintain the recommended tire pressure with correction for low temperatures.
- Do not use tires with a tread depth of less than 5 mm.
- Tires with less worn-out tread should be installed on the rear axle.

These rules are simple, but extremely important for ensuring your safety.
