About Vredestein

The Dutch company Vredestein B.V. is currently owned by an Indian conglomerate called Apollo Tyres. This company has a research center, a raw material base, and a wide network of distributors in its assets.

Today, this brand is engaged in the development and production of premium segment tires (the cooperation with the Dutch design bureau plays a significant role here). The company's products are sold not only in the CIS countries and Russia but also in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe (especially popular in Germany).

Company History

The first rubber products were produced by the company in 1909. However, this was not similar to what is now called Vredestein. The company took several decades to become what it is today - in 1946, a specialized tire production was formed.

It is worth understanding that it took a lot of courage to start your own business immediately after the devastating war, but even more so, a thorough understanding of the business you are undertaking.

The plant that opened in Enschede was not fully owned by the Dutch; it was a joint venture with the Americans. Here, as in many other relatively small brands, the successful BF Goodrich shone.

The business developed during those "blessed" times when the majority of enterprises lay in ruins (many - in the literal sense). Despite the fact that the tires produced by the company were very popular in the USA, they had an unpleasant tendency to slip on European highways. However, the pioneer spirit is not in vain - the company had time not only to correct all its shortcomings but also to develop radically new tires that could meet all the requirements of the European consumer. For example, the tires known as Profilux became the first product at the turn of the 50-60s, and they were one of the two most popular products.

However, time tested Vredestein for strength - soon the crisis of the seventies struck, and the company's products decreased in demand. Years of uncertainty, oil crisis, economic downturn... Goodrich decided to leave the European market, and this very seriously shook all minds related to the industry.

A significant moment (which was also a turning point) was when the Dutch government realized how important the brand was to the country's economy and relieved its owners of uncertainty by simply buying a controlling stake. Immediately after this, the company took up the development of its corporate style and released two new tire models. The company regained its former popularity thanks to the release of models such as Snow + and Sprint ST70. It decided to build on its success and released another pair of series - under the names Sprint + and Snowstar. In the eighties, these models were incredibly popular.
