Description Vredestein Ultrac Vorti
The summer tire Vredestein Ultrac Vorti is the result of close collaboration with the renowned design firm Giugiaro Design, which has been actively involved in the development of new models for nearly two decades. The name of this tire was conceived by the Italian design studio. Vorti is derived from the word Vortex, meaning "whirlwind". In the opinion of the designers, this word characterizes the tire's ability to smoothly withstand any loads when driving at high speeds. In addition, the tread pattern contains elements whose shapes have a lot in common with the visual effect that occurs when helicopter blades rotate.
Combination of stylish appearance and functionality
When working on the external appearance of the tread pattern, Italian designers tried to give it a sporty and innovative look. However, in addition to the impressive design, the asymmetric tread pattern contains a number of original technical solutions that provided the tire with excellent operational characteristics.
In particular, the outer walls of the drainage channels have two angles of inclination. One of them is 45 degrees, which allowed increasing the rigidity of the tread blocks. As a result of this technical solution, the stability of the block shape under the influence of lateral accelerations increased significantly, which had a beneficial effect on the directional stability when turning.
The walls of the transverse drainage channels also contain an additional angle of 10 degrees. In this way, the Dutch tire manufacturers were able to reduce rolling resistance and noise level. In addition, the shape of the walls of the transverse channels allowed for a significant improvement in the distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, resulting in increased tread resistance to uneven wear.
Another distinctive feature of the asymmetric pattern of this model is the arrow-shaped grooves located on the central longitudinal rib. These tread elements allowed for a significant improvement in directional stability when driving at high speeds.
Two options - for front and rear axles
This model is designed for powerful sports cars, many of which are equipped with tires of different sizes. As a rule, wider tires are installed on the rear axle, which allows them to effectively cope with the high engine power. Specifically for such cars, the Dutch manufacturer offers two versions of the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tire, which have significant differences in both the tread pattern and design. Tires designed for the front axle are distinguished by enhanced drainage properties, i.e., they remove a larger amount of water from the road surface. In turn, tires installed on the rear axle provide maximum traction with the road. That's why their tread pattern provides a higher void ratio than the front tires. In addition, the angle of the breaker layer on the rear tires is slightly modified, which allowed increasing the size of the contact patch.
4-radius profile shape
One of the key features of this model is the multi-radius profile. Most passenger tires have a contour that includes three radii. However, the profile of this model contains four radii, which allowed for a significant increase in the size of the contact patch and improvement in the even distribution of external load on it.
The main advantages of this technical solution manifest themselves when turning, when the main load falls on the shoulder areas of the tread, which leads to a change in both the shape and size of the contact patch. The new profile shape allowed not only to reduce the degree of these changes but also to make this process more smooth. As a result of such technical refinements, the tire behavior became stable and predictable when turning.
Main features of the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tire
- Asymmetric tread pattern, developed with the participation of Italian designers, is distinguished by excellent efficiency in any road conditions;
- Different options for front and rear axles allow for an ideal balance of operational characteristics;
- Rubber compound with increased silicon content, thanks to which the tire demonstrates excellent traction with a wet surface and increased resistance to abrasive wear;
- Very wide longitudinal drainage grooves provide rapid water removal from the contact patch, ensuring excellent resistance to aquaplaning even at high speeds;
- 4-radius profile shape of the tire provides high stability and predictability of behavior, especially when turning.
