Description Vredestein Hi-Trac 2
The summer passenger tire Vredestein Hi-Trac 2 is one of the latest developments of the well-known Dutch manufacturer in our country. This model is designed primarily for passenger cars of small and medium class. The tire is produced in several dozen sizes with a wheel mounting diameter of 14 to 16 inches. The speed index is H.
V-shaped design
The original tread pattern is one of the key features of this tire. Its distinctive feature is the offset center of the V-shaped tread blocks, located in the center of the tread. In addition, they are distinguished by their massive size, which made it possible to provide the maximum possible contact patch area with the road surface. In combination with the directional profile, this technical solution made it possible to provide the tire with a number of important advantages. Firstly, the grip on dry roads has improved significantly, which, thanks to the V-shaped design of the tread blocks, remains at a stable high level regardless of the driving mode. Secondly, the tire demonstrates excellent directional stability, especially when driving at high speeds. Thirdly, the flat profile of the central part of the tread made it possible to significantly improve the even distribution of external pressure across the entire contact patch. This circumstance had a very beneficial effect on the resistance to uneven wear, which ultimately led to an increase in the service life of the tire as a whole.
Maximum grip on wet roads
When developing the Vredestein Hi-Trac 2 tire, its developers paid special attention to ensuring reliable handling on wet roads. To a large extent, it was for this reason that they chose a V-shaped design of the tread pattern, which a priori has a higher resistance to aquaplaning. But at the same time, there was room for a large number of original design solutions that allowed for even better improvement of the grip indicators on wet roads. In particular, the central part of the tread was equipped with a large number of transverse drainage channels, located at a significant angle to the direction of movement. At the same time, their massive size allows them to accommodate significant amounts of water. This made it possible to significantly increase the speed of excess moisture removal from the contact patch. In addition, the drainage channels in the central part have a crescent shape, which allows the water flow to pass through them without swirling. As a result, it was possible to significantly increase the speed of water circulation, and with it, the effectiveness of the entire drainage system as a whole.
Short braking distance
Another aspect that was given a lot of attention during the development of this model was the braking properties. The developers faced a very difficult task - to provide a short braking distance on various types of road surfaces, without causing significant harm to other operational characteristics of the tire, in particular, the level of noise and vibration. This problem was solved by several original technical methods. First of all, the shoulder areas of the tread were significantly strengthened, in which a large number of separate rectangular blocks were located. The massive size and location of the long edges perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the wheel made it possible to significantly reduce the braking distance, especially on wet asphalt. To reduce the noise level, the shoulder blocks were placed with a different pitch relative to each other. In addition, the edges of the V-shaped blocks located in the central part of the tread were made rounded, which further reduced the noise level during movement.
Main features of the Vredestein Hi-Trac 2 tire
- A unique tread pattern design with a large number of V-shaped drainage channels and two wide longitudinal grooves provide excellent grip even on very wet roads;
- The new generation of High Silica Solution rubber compound in combination with the original arrangement of tread elements made it possible to significantly improve the braking efficiency, while reducing the rolling resistance;
- The Off-Center Directional Profile technology (tread with offset center) and rounded edges of the V-shaped blocks in the central part of the tread made it possible to reduce the noise level and vibration;
- A special internal liner reduces air losses, which made it possible to improve fuel efficiency and extend the life of the tire;
- The strengthened shoulder areas of the tread made it possible to achieve stable behavior when cornering, and the rectangular blocks located there reduced the braking distance.
