Michelin 4X4 Alpin
Tire specifications
DescriptionDescription Michelin 4X4 Alpin
One of the main features of the Michelin 4x4 Alpine winter tire for SUVs is a sufficiently narrow, but at the same time clearly defined scope of application. The fact is that this model was developed taking into account the climatic conditions of Western and Central Europe, where winter is significantly different from our traditional ideas about this time of year. This tire is "sharpened" for paved roads with some amount of snow, mostly thawed. It is in these conditions that it demonstrates reliable and stable traction. In addition, this model offers a set of traditional operating properties for Michelin tires, ranging from excellent ride quality to improved fuel efficiency.
Tread with many small blocks
Since this tire is designed for fairly specific road conditions, it's no surprise that French specialists have equipped it with a tread that is well adapted for operation in them. The key feature of such adaptation is the increase in the number of blocks at the expense of reducing their size. This has significantly improved traction on slippery roads, especially on snow, where this model demonstrates more than confident behavior.
Reduced rolling resistance
Another distinctive feature of the tread of this tire is the arrangement of blocks in the central part of the tread. With a rectangular shape, their transverse tread edges have a significant inclination relative to the direction of movement. This solution allows for a significant improvement in fuel efficiency, and also has a positive effect on directional stability at high speeds.
Short braking distance on snow and wet roads
All tread blocks have at least several straight lamellas. Due to their design features, they perform several functions at once. The main one is the formation of additional tread edges, which, due to their transverse arrangement, significantly reduce the braking distance, especially on snow and wet roads. In addition, these lamellas prevent aquaplaning, draining water from the contact patch into one of the many drainage grooves.
Main features of Michelin 4X4 Alpin
- increased number of tread blocks improves traction on snow and wet roads;
- significant inclination of transverse tread edges of tread blocks in the central part reduces rolling resistance, increases directional stability at high speeds;
- shortened braking distance on snow and wet roads, thanks to numerous lamellas arranged transversely.

A good winter tire for the city and a rare village. The checkered tread pattern, without unnecessary sipes, is an ideal solution for parking in snowdrifts and slow driving on powdered roads. It runs quietly and smoothly on dry roads. It is well-balanced with small loads (up to 70g).

holds the road well, but starts to make noise after 130
on ice, it slips away from any intersection faster than studded tires, brakes well, doesn't lead the car into uncontrollable skidding even on bare ice, goes poorly on dirt, gets dirty quickly. out of four wheels, only two needed balancing and that with small weights, if you don't drive recklessly, you can not balance at all.
