Ikon Character Ice 5 – a model designed for operation on any slippery surfaces: from icy "crust" to rolled snow. The tire demonstrates aggressive handling, short braking on wet roads, and, importantly, an increased mileage before replacement.

Lamellar mesh

Standard straight lamellas (slots in blocks) when compressed simply close, losing the gripping edge. Here, elements with saw-toothed edges of high amplitude are used. When loaded, these "teeth" do not collapse completely, but instead, interlock, forming a multitude of micro-claws that literally dig into the icy crust. They are supplemented by a row of compact studs that do not create a significant noise effect even when driving on clean asphalt.

Elasticity at low temperatures

No tread pattern can save the situation if the compound "becomes rigid" in the cold. For this model, a special rubber compound with an increased content of highly dispersed silica in combination with functional polymers has been developed. It creates micropores that absorb the thinnest water film on ice (the "sponge effect" principle), restoring direct contact between the rubber and the surface.

Snow — not an obstacle

Moving on to loose and rolled snow. In the central and shoulder areas of the tread, massive blocks with elongated lateral edges are located. When moving on snow, each element works like a shovel: scoops up snow into grooves, compacts it, and creates a support. In combination with increased drainage grooves, mushy snow slush is instantly diverted, not allowing the tire to "float".
