The Gislaved IceControl winter tire is designed for use primarily in regions with very cold climates. This model is structurally a copy of the extremely popular Continental ContiIceContact 2, from which a number of technical solutions were borrowed.
One of them was the tread pattern with an asymmetrical arrangement of elements. Some of them are combined into so-called "macro-blocks", component elements that, in particular, lengthen the edges formed by them. This significantly improves traction and adhesion on snow and wet surfaces. Another advantage of these elements is good handling and directional stability at high speeds, primarily on roads cleared of snow and ice. Another "borrowing" was the Ice Grip technology. First and foremost, these are "three-dimensional" lamellas and studs that provide stable traction on icy surfaces and snow smoothed to a mirror shine. It is substantially enhanced by the use of a rubber compound that remains elastic at extremely low temperatures.
Key features:
- the so-called "macro-blocks" provide a contact patch with elongated multidirectional traction edges, as well as increase its area;
- the Ice Grip technology, which includes "three-dimensional" lamellas and an increased number of studs with an optimized installation scheme, gives traction properties on icy surfaces high reliability;
- a special tread profile expands the contact patch, leveling the pressure across the road surface, which improves traction and makes it easier to control the trajectory of movement, especially when maneuvering

Good time of day. I didn't even manage to drive to the Republic of Belarus, the studs were falling out like baby teeth in a child, and there was so much admiration in the reviews of various professionals, to say that I'm upset is to say nothing, I'm saddened! In the photo, the beginning of the journey, 100 km.

I first bought them, then read the reviews and got a bit upset about some comments. But after three months of driving, I can say that the tires met my initial expectations. On ice, they grip well, the braking distance is short, and the ABS rarely kicks in. When cornering, the car doesn't skid. They also handle loose snow confidently. There is some noise from the studs, of course, but it's not critical to the ears. I recently checked the studs - everything looks fine visually. So far, I'm satisfied with everything.

A lyrical digression, before buying these tires, I had Bridgestone tires (made in Japan, 2013), during the entire period of operation, not a single stud came off, although they were almost worn out, I bought a set of studs and decided to re-stud them, removed all the old studs and re-studded them according to the instructions, drove for two more seasons and successfully sold them together with the disks.
I was advised to buy Gislaved (with a lowercase "g"), they didn't even come close to my previous tires, after a mileage of 1,000 km (60 km/h in the city and 90 km/h on public roads), for example, 41 studs came off from the left front wheel, and approximately the same on the other wheels. I contacted Mosshina, where I bought them, and they told me that I'm a stupid driver, and the tires are great! Kind people, especially the personal manager Denis.
