DescriptionDescription Bridgestone Ecopia EP850
The Bridgestone Ecopia EP850 summer tire is the result of the Japanese manufacturer's desire to expand the range of energy-efficient models to the SUV segment. In other words, this model is designed primarily for high-clearance vehicles - SUVs and crossovers. The main advantages of the new product of the Japanese tire industry are reduced rolling resistance and increased tire life, which was achieved without compromising safety.
The new model features a tread with an asymmetric pattern, the design of which does not imply any deviation from asphalt roads. The tread of the Bridgestone Ecopia EP850 tire consists of five longitudinal ribs, including both shoulder zones. The tread pattern consists of two parts - inner and outer, separated by a central longitudinal rib. The two halves of this tread element are separated by a row of rectangular blocks. Thanks to this original solution, it was possible to ensure excellent directional stability, as well as high acceleration efficiency, especially on slippery surfaces. Additionally, the blocks located in the central part of the tread are directed at a sharp angle relative to the direction of movement, which also improves the traction and adhesion characteristics of the tire.
The shoulder zones of the tread have a reinforced design with a high degree of stiffness. The rigid shoulder zones, combined with their small-radius profile, provide a maximum contact patch area, as well as its ideal rectangular shape, which optimally distributes the pressure. As a result, it was possible to achieve not only excellent grip with the road surface but also to increase the resistance of the tread to uneven wear, which increased the service life of the tire.
Main features of the Bridgestone Ecopia EP850 summer tire
- Asymmetric directional tread pattern provides not only excellent grip in any conditions but also exceptionally low rolling resistance;
- Rubber compound, the composition of which includes silica and special polymers in the upper layer of the tread, which reduce heat generation and rolling resistance due to reduced internal friction in the material;
- A large number of blocks in the central part of the tread, arranged at a sharp angle in the direction of movement, made it possible to achieve excellent traction and adhesion characteristics;
- Rigid shoulder zone design, which increased the resistance of the tread to uneven wear and also improved handling characteristics.

A decent tire for its price. Better than the Chinese-Taiwanese ones. A bit noisy, but not critical. Have not tested in snow-ice, only "winter". Wear is still unknown, mileage is small. Runs well in the track, almost doesn't feel.

Good handling in all weather conditions. It rides very well on water. It does not fear curbs and potholes. Among the minuses, there is a little noise in the salon.

I bought a car in winter, and this tire came with it, practically new. I was very pleased with it. Very pleased. Now I will explain why. I often drive long distances, and at high speeds.
What pleased me the most was that at a speed of 200 km/h, I was sitting calmly and talking to the passenger in the cabin without raising my voice. The tire is quiet.
In terms of water, at a speed of 90-100, you don't notice puddles, but at 110, it starts to hydroplane. Dry and wet turns are no problem.
In terms of off-road capabilities, I didn't go anywhere extreme, but I did get to drive on this tire on ice and snow. When warm days arrived, I decided to change my tires, but one swallow in the sky is not yet a sign of spring. It started snowing. A lot of snow. I had to drive, while my neighbors on their summer "Nokian", "Toyo" didn't dare to drive, I drove. I was very surprised at how well this tire handled and simply didn't notice the snow. Ice is a bit more complicated. In terms of acceleration, the four-wheel drive works and you drive away, but braking on bare ice is useless, plus or minus it's the same as with "spikes", but if there's slush, loose snow, or even LOOSE ice on the road, there won't be any problems. The main thing is to feel the car with your feet and your fifth sense, and do everything with sense.
In general, after all the situations I got into with this tire, when they happened again, there's no room for doubts and some kind of fear like: what if I don't make it, what if I skid.
I'm pleased with the tire. I'll buy it again, and if you have a choice to take it or not, I recommend taking it.
No troubles to anyone, and good luck on the roads!
