Шины на Daihatsu Taft (Даихатсу)

The Daihatsu Taft has been present in the production range of the Japanese brand twice. It was first introduced in 1974 as a compact SUV, existing in the model lineup until 1984. The return of the model took place at the very beginning of 2020, but already as a urban crossover with a bearing body.

SUV

The name of the SUV presented in 1974 was an abbreviation composed of the phrase Tough and Almighty Four-wheel Touring Vehicle, which translated to "strong all-mighty 4-wheel touring vehicle". The car was distinguished by compact dimensions, a frame platform, and a nearly square body with very short overhangs and a significant ramp angle. Under the hood was a 1-liter gasoline "four" combined with a 4-speed manual gearbox and a 2-range "transfer case". In addition, there was a version with a soft top in the lineup.

In 1977, the SUV underwent an update, mainly affecting the engine range. It began to be equipped with a more suitable 1.6-liter gasoline engine from Toyota, and a little later - a 2.5-liter diesel engine. The lineup of versions expanded due to modifications with a 6-seat salon. In 1983, the car received a different diesel engine with a volume of 2.8 liters in a set with a 5-speed "mechanics" offered as an option, along with a modified dashboard, which included clocks, an ammeter, a fuel flow meter, and a temperature gauge of the cooling liquid.

Crossover

In 2020, the Japanese brand revived this model after more than 35 years of absence from the production lineup. The Taft abbreviation received a new interpretation, being composed of the phrase Tall & Almighty Fun Tool, which translates to "tall and all-mighty fun tool". The car borrowed from its predecessor only small dimensions, technically representing a classic modern "crossover", in its dimensions close to Japanese "kei-cars", and in concept - to the Suzuki Hustler. Externally, the model stands out with flat body panels, plastic wings, LED lighting, as well as wheel disks on which "mudguards" from SUVs are imitated.

The car is built on a modular DNGA platform, one of the variants of the TNGA "cart" developed by Toyota, used in "kei-cars" of both brands for the Japanese market, being limited by the country's strict legislative norms. For this reason, under the hood is a 660 "cubic" gasoline "trio" developing the maximum allowed 64 hp. It is combined exclusively with a variator, and the drive, depending on the version, can be either front or full.

The salon stands out with a 4-seat layout, where, due to the vertical landing of passengers in the second row, there is a significant space reserve in the leg area, considering the car's dimensions. Already in the standard equipment, there is the possibility of quick and easy transformation into a two-seat crossover with a flat platform behind the front seats, suitable not only for transporting bulky items but also for resting two people. Another feature is the presence in the list of additional options of a multimedia system and a panoramic roof glazing. 15-inch disks and tires are standard for this car. Such models can be easily found in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
