The subcompact minivan Daihatsu Thor debuted in the production range of the Japanese brand in the fall of 2016, along with a whole line of modifications offered under other logos - Toyota and Subaru. The key feature of the model was the concept borrowed from classic "kei-cars", from which it differed significantly in larger dimensions.

Initial Version

The minivan stood out against the background of classic Japanese "kei-cars" primarily in terms of dimensions. The length of the car was 3.7 meters, and in terms of height, it could easily compete with most crossovers - 1735 mm. It's worth adding the almost vertical seating of passengers, which largely explained the significant increase in space on the rear sofa. The trunk still had a very modest volume with the possibility of increasing it almost twice by adjusting the seating positions on the second row in the range of 240 mm. The same thoughtfulness and versatility in application distinguished the entire cabin as a whole. The rear sofa had a folding mechanism, forming a flat and wide platform that could be used for both cargo transportation and sleep. And in the list of additional options, there were curtains and folding tables for the second row. Another important difference in the cabin was the presence of several dozen niches, shelves, cup holders, and hooks for hand luggage. In the list of additional equipment, there were climate control, electric sliding door drive, multimedia system, as well as a complex of electronic assistants Smart Assist of the second generation with automatic braking and alerting about the start of movement of the vehicle in front.

In technical terms, the minivan largely repeated the Japanese "kei-cars", using the same in-line "trio" with a volume of 1 liter, but not limited by tax benefits, which allowed it to produce 69 hp in the "atmospheric" version and 98 hp in the turbocharged version. In both versions, the power unit works in tandem with a variator. However, the all-wheel drive system is available only for the least powerful modifications.

Updated Version

In 2020, the minivan, along with the entire line, underwent a planned modernization. Visually, the updated version differed from its predecessor with minimal changes in the design of the front part and the appearance of LED headlights. In terms of equipment, the car also became slightly better. In the "base" version, there were electric drives for sliding doors and a modernized version of the complex of electronic "assistants" Smart Assist, already with a stereocamera under the windshield, which added precision and efficiency to the system's operation. The cabin stood out with a revised design of the front console with a 9-inch display of the multimedia system from additional options, as well as other seats and a steering wheel. Technically, the car turned out to be identical to its predecessor, including tires and wheels, which can still be purchased in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
