The French manufacturer positioned the spacious Citroen DS5 hatchback as a premium class. The car had an original body design with numerous lines, a soft suspension and a fairly rich equipment.Features and Technical Specifications
Presented in 2011 in Europe, the car was able to reach Russia only a year later. Its base was the PF2 platform, which was slightly modernized. Due to this, the overall dimensions of the car increased, making it an intermediate option between a wagon and a hatchback. The suspension was represented by a twist beam at the back and a classic "MacPherson" at the front. Thanks to its settings, the ride was distinguished by softness and comfort.The power units were represented by several options: a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 156 and 200 horsepower (depending on the boost), a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 112 and 163 horsepower. A hybrid version was also presented, the basis of which is a 2-liter diesel engine, supplemented by an electric motor located on the rear axle. The latter had a power of 37 horsepower and allowed even driving a short distance on pure electric traction (provided that the battery is fully charged).
Despite the fact that the model was officially presented in Russia, it never gained popularity here. Over three years of existence on the market, just over 1,000 copies were sold. Things were a little better in Europe, where the family hatchback was in sufficient demand. This allowed it to stay on the production line until 2017. After that, the model was discontinued. But many of its instances are still in use today.
