Tires on GMC (ГМС)

The GMC automobile brand represents one of the divisions of the General Motors concern, engaged in the development and production of SUVs, pickups, vans, and light trucks, mainly for the North American market. In the past, the company produced a wide range of special equipment, from ambulances to intercity buses. Currently, GMC products are positioned higher than similar models from Chevrolet, which includes this brand. In North America, GMC cars are sold along with Buick models, which is another "premium" GM brand.

History

The GMC automobile brand originated before 1900, when the Grabowsky Motor company was founded by brothers Max and Morris Grabowsky in Detroit. After moving production to Pontiac, it was renamed Rapid Motor in 1902. In 1909, it was acquired by General Motors, becoming its subsidiary. Two years later, GM formed a new structural unit that included Rapid Motor. It became known as the General Motors Truck Company, and in 1912, its products began to be marked with the GMC abbreviation. The company specialized in the development and production of various cargo equipment, to which armored personnel carriers and aircraft maintenance vehicles were added with the beginning of World War I. By 1918, GMC supplied about 90% of trucks and other equipment for military needs. The transition of production to its current form occurred gradually, with its peak in the 1990s, when GMC Truck was merged with Pontiac Motor to give the brand an image reflecting "physical strength and outdoor activity." During the same period, the product line came to represent several series of SUVs and pickups using the same platforms and design solutions as similar Chevrolet products.

GMC Model Range

Currently, the brand offers products in the crossover/SUV and pickup segments, which, although they use the same platforms and components as Chevrolet cars, have much more significant design differences. This is largely a tradition dating back to the 1920s, when Chevrolet and GMC trucks began using the same platforms and components, which significantly reduced production costs. Nevertheless, some cars do not have analogs in the Chevrolet model line. First and foremost, this is the Hummer EV, a full-size SUV and pickup with a fully electric powertrain. In addition to design, another difference between GMC products and similar cars in the Chevrolet line is the interior trim materials and the level of equipment, all of which are executed at a much higher level, but not so high as to compete with Cadillac, which is at the top of the GM hierarchy. When choosing tires, this approach to creating cars makes it easy to select tires, despite the relative exoticism of the GMC brand in our country. The catalog of the "Mosavtoshina" online store contains a large number of tires suitable for any models of all North American brands that are part of General Motors.
